Hooray! Summer is finally here (in the UK, anyway)! It feels like we have been waiting for just about forever for the sunshine to grace us with her glorious presence: not to mention the fact that last summer was a bit of a no-go what-with Miss Rona and all! Luckily, as the hot weather comes back, some restrictions are easing, and we are all looking forward to a good meetup or two. We have been lucky ourselves here at R.R.Memorandum to have enjoyed a few glorious and long-awaited days out. However, rather than simply talking about our favourite days out, we asked you, the lovely customers, followers and supporters of R.R.Memorandum, what your ideas of an ultimate dream outing for you and your local EGL community were. And the answers you gave us were absolutely GOLDEN.
We had suggestions of glorious summer-day teaparties and adventures in the gardens of the Palace of Versailles, which sounds like an absolute dream. One can only imagine the realities of such a wonderland of a location: to feel like one is actually living within a beautifully opulent Renaissance painting! As a side-note, the theme park Parc Asterix (a Greek mythology themed rollercoaster haven) is just a stones throw away - making the area even more perfect for a frilly day of action-packed adventure!
If Versailles isn't your nearest country house/private gardens, perhaps find somewhere near you to hold an aesthetic meetup! Whether it's a rose or botanical garden, a butterfly house or a park, meeting up in green space and embracing time together in natural environments is highly recommended for mental wellbeing, and makes for great, inspiringly creative photo opportunities! Moreover, meeting outside is entirely more comfortable at the moment, while we are waiting for the world to become a bit move Covid-safe!
Teaparties were very popular among respondents (unsurprising really, considering this has been the archetypal social event of EGL fashion fanciers since year 0). However, we had a suggestion that really inspired us to think beyond the box with the idea of a traditional teaparty. This idea was....*drumroll*...taking a CARRIAGE RIDE to an evening teaparty, which is ACTUALLY a murder mystery-style teaparty! Can you IMAGINE how epic that would be?! The drama and conflama of it all! When can we make it a thing? And would you believe it's something Cupcake Kamisama did last year over Zoom - perhaps we can ask her for a few pointers?
Of course we had lots of suggestions for more traditional EGL days out - lunch at a ramen or sushi spot, going for boba and a scenic walk, getting tea and macarons in a cute bakery: these are the kinds of meet ups you cannot possibly go wrong with! These are usually great places to go in frills together and sit of hours, setting the world to rights.
Antiquing or vintage shopping was a suggestion of many respondents. I have to admit, these are some of my personal favourite kinds of days out. Being in an environment filled with precious vintage treasures and nick-nacks while dressed in lacy (and in many cases, technically vintage, second hand clothing) is something that I hold near and dear to my heart. We recently had a stall at a night-time market, and the atmosphere was incredible! Being surrounded by other quirky businesses and customers, buying and selling unique creations and having thee most fun we think we've had in a long time: Such a great buzz!
In general, this summer so far has seen a few really lovely days out for the R.R.Memorandum team! We have been documenting our days out on social media, in the form of a digital Summer Scrapbook! Make sure you take a look at that when you get the chance: it's been a super fun way to share how we spend our downtime, when we are not busy preparing for the many amazing things we have in store for you all very, very soon!
How cute! I have missed tea parties but I’m sure picnics can replace their void
